If you cut them much you'll spring a leak as they are a little thin in the short side radius. For instance I have a D1VE block out of a 76 Lincoln with D3VE heads. I am putting flat top pistons with 8 cc valve notches in them.

Put D0VE heads on that shortblock and you'll be at about 11.4:1. The CJ heads are nioce but will be a mistake in your application; the D0VEs would be much better (I have proven this over and over again).

I acutally have C9 heads for the 460 I'm building now. When they added 20cc to the combustion chamber the extra chamber was raised into the exhaust port.
