A Petcock is used (& should always be used) to set the water flow to urinals flushed by auto-cisterns, it is adjusted by removing the dust cover & inserting a flat bladed screwdriver & turning clock wise to slow the flow & anti-clockwise to increase. I haven't owned a carbed bike in a while so forget which is run and stop. Straight down is on, I remember that much. Yamahafan is right on the mark; the carbs will hold a 1/2 pint or so of fuel. B. I know mine had a small pin hole which made my idle weak at times. i even went as far as resynching the carbs and changing the plugs before i found it . just enough to bleed off vacuum . Usually vacuum petcocks fail because the diaphragm gets split and/or the vacuum line to the petcock gets disconnected or splits.
