They have some interesting conduits that they can equip that help with debuffing, healing, reducing hate of non-fighter members, etc. Their damage intercept buff is great for very hard hitting mobs. A very important thing about the Channeler is keeping the pet healed up as much as possible.

I can't believe it would be that hard for them to add in further essences that may not necessarily be more powerful, but might add additional function/utility, or even just updated power of the same essences.
